Music – Wind Ensemble

 

Band

 

The learner will demonstrate proper playing positions necessary to perform a variety of music.

 

The learner will develop precision in movement skills (marching band).

 

The learner will produce a controlled tone quality throughout the range of the instrument to allow fluent performance.

 

The learner will demonstrate a variety of articulations at various speeds.

 

The learner will perform complex meters and rhythmic patterns.

 

The learner will play all major scales and chromatic scales within the practical range of the instrument.

 

Percussion learners will play 26 drumming patterns (rudiments).

 

The learner will identify key signatures and apply them to the music being  performed.

 

The learner will play with accurate melodic and harmonic intonation.

 

The learner will play minor scales within the practical range of the instrument.

 

The learner will experience music literature of various styles, composers, and compositional techniques.

 

The learner will interpret music in a manner consistent with historical perspective and style.

 

The learner will demonstrate sight reading skills in moderately advanced rhythmic structures and keys.

 

The learner will exhibit advanced technical facility and precision.

 

The learner will contribute to a sense of ensemble within the performing group.

 

The learner will discuss solutions of musical problems encountered in rehearsal.

 

The learner will demonstrate a positive attitude toward music, self-discipline, group cooperation, and leadership.

 

The learner will explore career and vocational opportunities in music and other performing arts.
