Physical Education - Grades 9 - 12

 

 

 

Game Activities

 

The learner will be able to demonstrate a basic understanding of movement skills necessary for success in various game activities.

 

  

 

The learner will be able to comprehend and apply basic offensive and defensive strategies of the game.

 

  

 

The learner will be able to identify and put into practice the rules, scoring, and terminology associated with the game.

 

  

 

The learner will be able to identify and discuss the nature of the game including play, responsibilities, field markings, and player positioning.

 

  

 

The learner will be able to identify and observe the necessary safety concerns and precautions relative to each sport.

 

  

 

The learner will be able to demonstrate the ability to perform basic skills necessary for success in specific game activity.

 

  

 

The learner will be able to demonstrate and apply social skills such as teamwork, sportsmanship, cooperation and tolerance in a game activity setting.

 

 

Fitness Activities

 

 

 

 

The learner will be able to explain and apply safety practices associated with physical fitness.

 

 

 

 

 

The learner will be able to determine a target heart rate.

 

The learner will be able to demonstrate the ability to set and maintain a pace that will improve fitness levels.

 

  

 

The learner will be able to describe the value of proper warm up and cool down.

 

  

 

The learner will be able to demonstrate the skills and techniques necessary for executing a variety of weight training lifts.

 

  

 

The learner will be able to identify the necessary safety concerns involved in weight training.

 

  

 

The learner will be able to explain the basic terminology required to carry out a successful weight training program.

 

  

 

The learner will be able to perform a variety of stretches using a slow static stretch technique and understand which muscle is being affected.
