The learner will be able to describe and demonstrate
correct posture for a supported singing tone.
|
|
The learner will be able to describe and demonstrate
the location, movement and significance of the diaphragm muscle during
respiration as it applies to singing.
|
|
The learner will be able to describe and demonstrate
the increasing knowledge of good diction with regard to vowels and
consonants for purposes of expressing and articulating musical phrases.
|
|
The learner will be able to discriminate between
in-tune and out-of-tune singing.
|
|
The learner will be able to identify and describe the
four categories of voices:
soprano, alto, tenor and bass.
|
|
The learner will be able to describe and demonstrate the
major scale, natural minor scale, harmonic minor scale and the melodic
minor scale with solfege and hand signs.

The learner will be able to describe and sing the
chromatic scale with solfege.
|
|
The learner will be able describe and demonstrate the
thirds exercise, interval drill, triads of the scale and SATB chord
progression (I-IV-I-I).

The learner will be able to identify and describe
half steps, whole steps and pattern of half and whole steps used to
construct a major scale.

The learner will be able to identify the key
signatures of C, F and G Major and apply solfege syllables to the correct
notes of each key.

The learner will be able to identify, describe,
compare and demonstrate tied notes and slurs and staccato and legato.
|
|
The learner will be able to sight-read a four measure
example with solfege in the keys of C Major, F Major and G Major using
quarter, half, whole, eighth and 16th notes.

|
The learner will be able to locate and sing the tonic
triad of any scale.
|
|
The learner will be able to describe and demonstrate
accompanied and acappella singing.
|
|
The learner will be able to demonstrate maturity in
concert etiquette and concert discipline as a member of an ensemble.
|
|
The learner will demonstrate an increased performance
level of stylistic differences, interpretation and expression of a song.
|
|
The learner will perform alone and with others a
variety of music.
