Music - Grade 7 Chorus

 

 

 

Vocal Techniques

 

The learner will be able to describe and demonstrate correct posture for singing.

 

  

 

The learner will be able to identify, describe and demonstrate good tone quality in relation to the five pure vowel sounds.

 

  

 

The learner will be able to describe and demonstrate changes in vowel and consonant application when singing in Latin.

 

  

 

The learner will be able to identify, describe and demonstrate vowels that are dipthongs.

 

  

 

The learner will be able to describe and demonstrate dynamic changes within unison and 2-3 part literature.

 

  

 

 

 

The learner will be able to describe and demonstrate an awareness of balance and blend within the ensemble.

 

  

 

The learner will be able to describe and demonstrate the musical elements necessary for an excellent performance.

 

  

 

The learner will be able to describe and demonstrate control of the soft palate, head voice, and breath management, including staggered breathing.

 

  

 

 

 

Theory Concepts

 

The learner will be able to describe and sing a major scale, natural minor scale and harmonic minor scale with solfege and hand signs.

 

  

 

Students will be able to describe and demonstrate the thirds exercise, interval drill and the triads of the scale.

 

  

 

Students will be able to identify the letter names of notes on the treble and bass clef staves.

 

  

 

Students will be able to describe, demonstrate and compose rhythm patterns using quarter notes, half notes, whole notes, eighth notes, dotted half notes, quarter rests, half rests and whole rests in duple, triple and quadruple meter.

 

  

 

The learner will be able to identify and describe key signatures and the order and use of sharps, flats and natural signs.

Sight-reading

The learner will be able to describe and demonstrate appropriate concert etiquette.

 

  

 

The learner will demonstrate part independence, balance, blend and memorization using 2-3 part treble and mixed voicing literature.

The learner will demonstrate proficiency in pronouncing Latin for singing.
