Music – Concert Band

 

Band

 

The learner will demonstrate the proper playing position, taking into consideration growth and motor ability.

 

The learner will produce a controlled tone quality in various dynamic levels.

 

The learner will demonstrate a variety of articulations.

 

The learner will observe musical terms and apply them to performance.

 

The learner will perform music involving tempo changes and a variety of meters and rhythmic patterns.

 

The learner will play the major scales of eight key signatures and will apply concepts of key signatures to performance.

 

Percussion learners will play 13 drumming patterns (rudiments).

 

The learner will play a selected chromatic scale ascending and descending.

 

The learner will apply principals of intonation to musical performance.

 

The learner will perform a variety of music literature.

 

The learner will incorporate expressive elements of phrasing and style in individual and group performance.

 

The learner will sightread as part of ensemble experiences.

 

The learner will demonstrate expanded technical proficiency.

 

The learner will discuss various interpretations of the music being studied.

 

The learner will demonstrate a positive attitude toward music, self development, and group cooperation.

 

The learner will identify career and vocational options in music.
