Fine Arts - Jewelry
|
|
The learner will be able to review and practice the
basic metalworking skills of sawing, filing, piercing, beveling, emery papering
while creating finished pieces of jewelry.
|
|
The learner will be able to learn and practice the
techniques of changing the surface and structure of metal by using forming,
annealing, repousse, chasing, oxidizing, etching, or planishing as they
create pieces of jewelry.
|
|
The learner will be able to learn and practice the
basic types of silver soldering, including fabrication, marriage of metals,
and lamination, and demonstrate them by creating jewelry objects using
these techniques.
|
|
The learner will be able to learn various ways to set
a stone: bezel, prongs, star settings, and use what he has learned to
create a piece of jewelry from sterling silver with a stone set into it
using one of the techniques learned.
|
|
The learner will be able to explore the history of
jewelry design, and compare the way it was created in the past and the various
roles it played in society with those it plays now.
|
|
The learner will be able to use materials indigenous
to this century to create a piece of jewelry that is unique to the time and
place in which it was created.
