Fine Arts - II Drawing and Painting
|
|
The learner will be able to demonstrate
three-dimensional effects on a two-dimensional surface by using techniques of
observation, detail and rendering.
|
|
The learner will be able to complete a series of
figure drawings including gestures and longer drawings, and focusing on the
creative and technical aspects of foreshortening and distortion as they relate
to the figure.
|
|
The learner will be able to use watercolor techniques
to create two different monoprint plates: one subtractive, and one additive
in process, and will produce several prints from each plate.
|
|
The learner will be able to complete a series of exercises
in mixing flesh tones, and will then complete a self-portrait in oils.
|
|
The learner will be able to examine how the
properties of design: balance, contrast, emphasis, harmony, rhythm, and
proportion can affect a composition.
|
|
The learner will be able to use selection, isolation,
and expansion in relation to the elements and properties of design, the
student will create a mixed-media composition that conveys a certain
message of their choice.
The learner will
be able to explore image making as meaning making in the effort to use art
as a communication tool.

|
The learner will be able to use either the copier or the
scanner and computer to create self-portrait images.
|
|
The learner will be able to combine the self-portrait
images with other media to create a self-portrait that conveys a certain
message about themselves.
|
|
The learner will be able to compare and contrast the
subjects, techniques, and methods of working of artists from Impressionism to
Contemporary art movements.
|
|
The learner will be able to analyze how various
artists from the periods listed above were affected by the industrial and
technical developments of the times they lived in.
|
|
The learner will be able to create a composition that
depicts the same subject in 9 different ways: the first in their own
realistic original drawing style, 7 versions done in styles synthesized
from those listed in #1 above, and one created on the computer by scanning
their original image into Adobe Photoshop, and manipulating it into a new
but still recognizable image.
