Fine Arts - Crafts

 

Ceramics

 

The learner will be able to use the hand building methods of working with clay: pinch, coil, slab, modeling, or a combination of these to create a utilitarian or decorative object.

 

  

 

The learner will be able to demonstrate their ability to go through the steps of throwing on the Potter's Wheel.

Sculpture

 

The learner will be able to work in groups to solve problems of creating free standing and load bearing structures using only paper and scissors.

 

  

 

The learner will be able to use additive and/or subtractive sculpture techniques to create in-the-round or relief sculptures using a variety of materials to depict representational or non-representational subjects.

 

  

 

The learner will be able to use a relief carving (linoleum block) to create a series of prints.

Objects for Personal Adornment

 

The learner will be able to create an object of personal adornment using a variety of materials, and using metal as a flat surface, incorporating the techniques of sawing, filing, enameling, polishing and piecing.

 

  

 

The learner will be able to use the design elements and principles of composition to create a wall hanging or piece of clothing using the techniques of Batik, weaving, macramé, tie-dye, or a combination of these.
